- Facebook: 1200 x 630 for link and event images, 1080 x 1350 for feed posts, 1640 x 624 for a page cover (keep text in the middle, as phones crop the sides).
- LinkedIn: 1584 x 396 profile or page banner, 1200 x 627 for shared posts.

Images for a website
A full-width hero needs to be about 2400 px wide to look sharp on large, high-density screens; most other images look good at 1600 px. Save photos as WebP or JPG at about 80 to 85% quality, and then run them through the image compressor if you have several.
Why it looks soft when you enlarge
Resizing can't add detail that isn't there. If the tool warns that it's enlarging, use the original photo rather than a screenshot or a picture saved from social media, which have already been shrunk.
Questions
Is the image resizer free?
Yes, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limits.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Cropping and resizing happen in your browser, and nothing leaves your device.
What's the best image size for Instagram?
1080 x 1350 (portrait, 4:5) takes up the most room in the feed. Use 1080 x 1080 for square posts and 1080 x 1920 for stories and reels.
What size is a Facebook cover photo?
Upload 1640 x 624. Facebook shows it at 820 x 312 on computers and crops the sides on phones, so keep text and faces in the middle.
Can I resize without cropping?
Yes. Choose Resize only to keep the shape and set a new width, or choose Fit inside to place the whole picture on a background colour.
Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos, PNG for screenshots and graphics with text or transparency, WebP for websites (smaller than both, and every current browser shows it).
